Homeschool Senior at 15

I can’t believe my little girl is getting so big!  She isn’t so little anymore…..and this is her senior year!  Yes, she is only 15 years old.  How did this happen?  Well, when we pulled her out of public school just a few months into her 3rd grade year, she was literally STARVING for knowledge.  After coming home, she dove right in and wanted to learn every minute of every day.  It was amazing!  I couldn’t slow her down…..even though I actually tried.  Before I knew it, she was doing the next school year’s curriculum.  Then, the same thing happened the next year!    I realized that this was the thing that I would come to love MOST about homeschooling – it allows for each student’s individual needs to be met.  My daughter WANTED to learn……and she was in an environment at home where she could truly soak in all that there was available to her.  I am SO glad that we made the decision to walk (and sometimes run) this journey!

If you’d like to check out our daughter’s senior pictures, I’d love for you to do that!  Here is the link:

So what’s next for Shelby?  She wants to become a firefighter someday….. maybe specializing in investigating the origins of fires and doing the forensic photography related to fires.  She will start classes at the local community college in January.  She is currently on the local volunteer fire department and will get her First Responder Certification next month.  We are very proud of her!
